About Creative Country
The arts have the power to connect people beyond geographic, social and cultural borders and play a pivotal role in education, health, wellbeing, identity and inclusion in regional areas. The three non-profit regional arts and cultural development organisations comprising Creative Country have shared visions of rich, diverse, cultural landscapes. These diligent, energetic teams work with individuals, organisations and government to generate, promote and advocate for the arts and creative industries in their areas. In Creative Country, the arts is intrinsic to an engaged, responsive, and resilient society.
Outback Arts is the regional arts development organisation representing the Shires of Bourke, Brewarrina, Bogan, Cobar, Coonamble, Walgett and Warren and all their associated communities.
The region prides itself on being the place where the Outback begins, with vast open woodlands and plains stretching to the edge of the grasslands, and the tributary and distributary waterways of the Upper Murray Darling Basin converging within the area.
Arts North West supports the communities within the local government areas of Tenterfield, Glen Innes Severn, Armidale, Walcha, Uralla, Tamworth, Liverpool Plains, Gunnedah, Gwydir, Narrabri and Moree Plains. The region is characterised by slopes and plains, with ranges flattening into rich agricultural land.
West Darling Arts services the area ranging from Tibooburra to Dareton, Wilcannia to Silverton. An organisation that strongly believes arts and culture are integral to the vitality and development of their isolated communities from the Unincorporated area, Central Darling Shire, Broken Hill City Council down to Wentworth Shire in the south.
This site is a collaboration between Outback Arts, Arts North West, and West Darling Arts, and is funded through Regional Arts Australia’s Tourism Generator Fund and CreateNSW’s RESTART initiative with the aim of building cultural tourism.
